The Salt Lake City Marathon starts high, at the Olympic Legacy Bridge by the University of Utah, and spends 26.2 miles working its way down to Library Square downtown. You'll get sweeping views of the Wasatch Mountains in the early miles, which is as good a distraction as any while your legs settle into the descent. Don't let the net drop of about 650 feet fool you: the course still carries roughly 900 feet of climbing, so train for rolling terrain rather than a pure downhill. With about 1,900 marathon finishers in 2026, it feels like a real city race without the crush of a mega-event. Registration opened in early September, with early-bird pricing through November 1. You have 6.5 hours before the finish closes at 1:30 PM, so there is room for a steady, sensible day.
